Michael T. Ikeda, VMD
Dr. Michael Ikeda is the proud owner of Muirlands Animal & Avian Hospital since 1988. He graduated with BA and MA degrees in Biology from UCLA, before completed his VMD degree at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Ikeda has been in the Southern California area for over 32 years and calls Mission Viejo his home. He has saved countless birds working with Pacific Wildlife over the years, but he is most proud of the 5 previous employees fulfilling their dreams of becoming veterinarians through his guidance. Dr. Ikeda and his lovely wife Christine enjoy attending cultural events and visits to Hawaii to see family. Dr. Ikeda is also a avid golfer and plays as often as his busy schedule allows 🙂
Claire Gunderson, DVM
Medical Director
Dr. Claire Gunderson was born and raised on Long Island NY. Dr. Gunderson moved to California to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She pursued an undergraduate degree in Animal Science with the plan to follow in her sister’s footsteps and become a veterinarian. Following undergrad, she made the big move to the Midwest to attend Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2017. Claire was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move back to Southern California and work in two large multi-doctor practices as well as an emergency hospital since graduating veterinary school. With this variety of experience, she is ready to step into the role as Medical Director here at Muirlands Animal and Avian Hospital. Dr. Gunderson has special interests in neurology and emergency medicine. In her time away from the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, and kitty, as well as pursuing activities such as hiking, camping, skiing, and traveling.

Dr. Linda Larsen, DVM, MS, ACVSD
Dr. Linda J. Larsen is a board-certified small animal surgeon and the sole proprietor of Pacific Veterinary Surgery Services. She received her doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) degree from the University of Minnesota, college of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.
Team Members
Ana
Ana has been a valued and loved team member since 1997! Ana is a registered veterinary technician and hospital supervisor. She is fluent in Spanish and has well over 20 years in avian care. After hours she likes to spend time with her family, pets, and friends. She is also an expert in Pokemon 🙂
Sheila
Sheila is our Director of First Impressions and has been a team member since 1996! Sheila is truly awesome all around. This hospital is blessed to have her. Sheila has an adorable Shih Tzu named Angel.
Nana
Nana is our veterinary assistant who has several years of experience in the veterinary field. Nana is fluent in Japanese and a wonderful help to all of us. Nana lives with her dog and her cats who all bring her love and happiness.
Becky
Becky has been in the veterinary field for over 30 years and is a great asset to our hospital with her many years of experience! Becky has a sweet Cavipoo dog named Quincy.
Cindy
Cindy just graduated from Platt College with her AS in Veterinary Technology. She just passed her Veterinary Technician National Exam becoming our hospitals 2nd Registered Veterinary Technician! In her free time, she likes to go thrift shopping for Knick Knacks, reading books, and watching anime. She loves animals she has three cats Boba, Poke, & Musubi.
Paige
Paige graduated from Michigan State University and plans on going to school to become a veterinarian. She enjoys hanging out with friends, going to concerts, traveling, and spending time with her dog, Jake
