Dr. Claire Gunderson was born and raised on Long Island NY. Dr. Gunderson moved to California to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She pursued an undergraduate degree in Animal Science with the plan to follow in her sister’s footsteps and become a veterinarian. Following undergrad, she made the big move to the Midwest to attend Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2017. Claire was lucky enough to have the opportunity to move back to Southern California and work in two large multi-doctor practices as well as an emergency hospital since graduating veterinary school.

With this variety of experience, she is ready to step into the role as Medical Director here at Muirlands Animal and Avian Hospital. Dr. Gunderson has special interests in neurology and emergency medicine. In her time away from the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband, two dogs, and kitty, as well as pursuing activities such as hiking, camping, skiing, and traveling.
